On June 17, Astana will host the second Central Asia-China Summit.
According to Kazakh analysts, it marks a new stage in the development of the
strategic partnership between the countries of the region and China. They note
that the growth in trade is clear evidence of these strengthened ties. Last
year, trade reached a record $95 billion, with Kazakhstan accounting for nearly
half of that amount. Experts believe that the first Central Asia–China Summit,
held in Xi’an in 2023, gave a significant boost to economic cooperation. At
that time, Kazakhstan signed 22 agreements with China. As a result, domestic
producers secured access to the Chinese market and launched a number of joint
projects.
«The upcoming summit will address key topics of multifaceted
cooperation, with trade, logistics, the increasingly important green economy,
and environmental issues taking center stage. Education, science, culture,
tourism, and other fields will also be in focus. A number of important
documents are expected to be signed. All of this will give fresh impetus to the
development of the Central Asian region. Hosting the summit in Astana opens up
new opportunities for our country,» said Bauyrzhan Auken, senior expert at the
Asian Studies Department of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies
under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
