25 foreign university branches open in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has introduced new financial support tools for students, including the unified voluntary savings system «Keleshek», the National Fund for Children program, preferential educational loans, and differentiated grants. Kazakh Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek reported this at a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Additionally, agreements have been reached with foreign partners to transform regional state universities into research universities adhering to international education standards. Following the meeting, the Head of State gave several instructions to the minister for the further development of higher education and science infrastructure, including the construction of dormitories.

«As of today, 25 branches of foreign universities have been opened in the country. These include four large campuses: De Montfort University in Almaty, Coventry University and Cardiff University in Astana, and Woosong University in Turkistan. Additionally, it was reported about new mechanisms within the signed Law on Science and Technology Policy, which expand the functionality of the Science Fund and implement the globally recognized TRL methodology at all levels. It was also noted that the National Academy of Sciences has been granted a new status, becoming the highest scientific organization,» Nurbek said.
