Since the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan has conducted 12
state audits totaling 20 trillion tenge - seven times more than during the same
period in 2024. This was reported to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev by the
Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber. According to Alikhan Smailov, the audits
covered key sectors including secondary education, pharmaceutical supply,
digital development, electric power, and elite sports. As a result, over 60
recommendations and 450 directives have been sent to the Kazakh government and
audited entities. In addition, legislative initiatives have granted the Supreme
Audit Chamber the authority to audit off-budget funds. The work of the
Commission monitoring the use of funds from the National Fund has also been
restructured - a move expected to enhance transparency and strengthen oversight
of fund expenditures. The Head of State emphasized the importance of
introducing modern digital technologies to improve control over the use of
public funds.
