Since the beginning of
the year, road cargo transportation in the Zhetisu region has doubled. During a
recent working trip, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reviewed
developments in the transport and logistics sector. He visited the Nur Zholy
international center, where an automated vehicle accounting system uses
Cross-Docking technology to expedite transit. The center currently handles up
to 200 vehicles per day and processes 250 tonnes of cargo. The region’s transit
and transport potential is also supported by the multifunctional transshipment
terminal in Dostyk village, where cargo volumes have tripled over the past few
years.
«All of this was built
through direct investments. To date, private investments have totaled 26.2
billion tenge. Additionally, next year, we plan to expand the area with further
construction and the purchase of two more reach stackers, which will require an
additional 3.2 billion tenge. Currently, we handle over eight trains daily,
equating to 440 40-foot containers. With the expansion, we aim to increase this
number to 15 trains per day,» said head of Dostyk TransTerminal Takan Gizzatov.
Bektenov also toured
the Alakol customs checkpoint, where modernization plans include new
technologies for monitoring individuals, luggage, goods, and vehicles. The
checkpoint’s capacity will increase from 250 trucks per day to 1,000, with the
facility expected to be operational by the end of September. Bektenov then visited
the Taldykorgan-Usharal main gas pipeline project, which, following President
Tokayev’s instructions, will stretch over 300 kilometers and have a capacity of
385 million cubic meters of gas per year. This project aims to supply natural
gas to 66 settlements in the region. The Prime Minister emphasized that the new
pipeline will ensure energy security and stable development of the Zhetisu
region.
«The primary objective of the main gas pipeline
is to provide gas to the population and support new industrial and investment
projects as the region develops. Currently, the level of gas infrastructure
development in the area is around 47 percent. Once the Taldykorgan-Usharal gas
pipeline is operational, the figure is expected to reach 90 percent,» noted
QazaqGaz National Company Chairman Sanzhar Zharkeshov.
