Zhetisu Region attracts 610 billion tenge in investment

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Zhetisu Region Governor Beibit Issabayev, who reported on the region’s socio-economic development. All key target indicators were achieved last year. A total of 610 billion tenge in investment was attracted—nearly 13% more than in 2024. By 2027, 23 investment projects worth 94.5 billion tenge are planned for implementation in the region, including the construction of poultry farms, feedlots, fish farms, and greenhouses. In the industrial sector, 29 new facilities have been commissioned over the past three years, while several existing enterprises have been expanded. Infrastructure development is also progressing. Following the completion of the Taldykorgan–Usharal gas pipeline, 210 settlements have been connected to the gas network. The President was also presented with plans for the development of the agro-industrial sector. Sown areas have been expanded, including sugar beet. Efforts continue to develop tourism potential, with improvement works underway along the shores of Lakes Alakol and Balkhash, including shoreline reinforcement.

«The Head of State outlined the key priorities for the region’s development and issued a number of directives. First, this concerns the efficient operation of the Dostyk border checkpoint and the Khorgos Special Economic Zone on the border with China. The second directive relates to the active development of the tourism sector, particularly mountain tourism, as well as the creation of modern recreational areas, especially along the shores of Lakes Alakol and Balkhash,» Issabayev said.
