“Zhailau” exhibition of contemporary art

An exhibition of Kazakh young talented artists under the patriotic title “Zhailau” is taking place in the country’s capital. Residents and visitors of Nur-Sultan can enjoy the creativity of young masters during the month. According to the exposition’s developers, the authors of the works are followers of Kazakh artists, well-known way back in the 60s, who laid the foundation for a completely new direction of domestic art. The exhibition displays nearly 50 works selected from all over Kazakhstan.

“This event is a collective exhibition of young Kazakh artists. We named it “Zhailau”. We chose this title because “zhai” is the root of the Turkic word that means summer. This is a peak of the season, the peak of ripening. The exposition presents young beginner artists who nevertheless proved their worth. They have already formed their own vision. We held a selection of works. We have 11 artists, who took the initiative of the artists of the 60s,” said Madina Sergazina, exhibition curator.
