World Nomad Games: Promoting tourism in Central Asian countries

Astana is set to host the World Nomad Games from September 8 to 13. A total of 85 countries have already confirmed their participation in the sports competitions, with around 3,000 athletes expected to showcase their skills. Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Kazakh capital believe the event will promote tourism throughout Central Asia. Approximately 100,000 tourists are anticipated to attend the Games, which will offer them the opportunity to explore the cultural and historical heritage of Kazakhstan and other countries in the region.

“We are showcasing our cultural values, traditions, and national sports to the world. We are currently working to ensure that representatives from Uzbekistan also participate. Our Karabair horses will take part in these events, along with Akhal-Teke horses from Turkmenistan. And, of course, representatives from Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic will also be involved,” said Uzbek Ambassador to Kazakhstan Saidikram Niyazkhojaev.

Notably, the international competitions will feature 21 different sports disciplines, with a total of 97 medal sets up for grabs. According to diplomats, the event will serve as a new milestone for regional economic growth.

“Thanks to the growth of tourism, approximately 17-18 sectors of the economy are experiencing development, generating such a multiplier effect. These encompass the hotel sector and service industries, as well as craftsmanship, industrial development, and agricultural advancement,” added Niyazkhojaev.

The World Nomad Games will strengthen friendly ties among the participating countries. The media outlets from Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Central Asia play an important role in promoting the upcoming competitions.
