WHO calls mixing COVID-19 vaccines “dangerous trend”

The World Health Organization representatives advised against people mixing coronavirus vaccines from different manufacturers. They called it a “dangerous trend” since there was little data about the health impact of two different vaccines. The third dose also raises concerns. Scientists are conducting research on this issue and so far there is no evidence of the effectiveness of the additional vaccine, the organization said.

“It's a little bit of a dangerous trend here. We're in a data-free, evidence-free zone here as far as mix-and-match. There is limited data on mix and match. It will be a chaotic situation in countries if citizens start deciding when and who will be taking a second, a third and a fourth dose,” said Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Scientist at the World Health Organization.
