Two large renewable energy facilities will be built in
Kazakhstan. Investors from the United Arab Emirates plan to invest $1.4 billion
in their construction. The Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, has
ratified the corresponding agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and
the UAE. Under the agreement, two wind farms will be constructed in the Zhambyl
region, each with a capacity of 500 megawatts. In total, the green facilities,
equipped with energy storage systems, are expected to generate 3.4 billion kilowatt-hours
of electricity annually. Experts say this will positively impact the country’s
environment, reducing annual carbon emissions by two million tonnes and
increasing the share of renewable energy in Kazakhstan by an additional 3%.
«From the initial stage, a training and professional
development program for local personnel is being implemented jointly with the
investor, aimed at developing a new generation of highly qualified specialists
capable of working with advanced technologies. As part of the project, energy
storage systems and high-voltage networks will be built in Kazakhstan for the
first time, based on leading international practices. The construction of 425
kilometers of power transmission lines will enhance the transit potential,
connecting the northern and southern regions of the country,» noted Kazakh
Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov.
