Turkmenistan has launched direct flights to
South Korea. Now it will be possible to get from Ashgabat to Seoul in just 7.5
hours. The first flight took place this week, carrying 365 passengers. Flights
between the two capitals will operate once a week, on Mondays. Previously,
travelers from Turkmenistan could only reach South Korea via connecting flights
through Tashkent, Dubai, Istanbul, and other major hubs.
«I am the first Korean people fly Turkmenistan
to Seoul air flight. It is so interesting!» said Minhyuk Kim, a tourist from
the Republic of Korea.
«I am from Korea. I’m happy to take our first
Turkmenistan to Korea airline. I want to come back here again. Our trip is very
happy. It is good for us. I want to come back here again,» shared Ui-Jin Choi, another
South Korean tourist.
The new route is expected to boost passenger
traffic and freight transport between the two countries and serve as an
additional driver for tourism development in Turkmenistan.
