Turkmen schoolchildren won two gold, four silver, and six
bronze medals at the 21st International Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics,
Physics, and Computer Science held in Astana, Kazakhstan. In the overall team
standings, Turkmenistan’s team placed eighth. The competition took place from
January 13 to 17, with over 700 students from 15 countries participating,
including more than 20 students from Turkmenistan. The winners were honored at
a ceremony in Ashgabat. The Turkmen Minister of Education highlighted the
importance of international competitions for developing scientific potential
and fostering interstate cooperation in education. The Zhautykov Olympiad
traditionally remains an important platform for discovering and supporting
young talents, as well as strengthening ties between countries.
«I won a gold medal in mathematics at the international
Olympiad. I had been preparing for this Olympiad for a long time, studying
every day with my teachers, to whom I am deeply grateful,» said pupil Hamza
Allaberdiyev.
«I am very happy that our students were able to achieve such
great results. They have been preparing for these competitions for a long time.
I hope this will serve as a great example for other students who are diligently
studying and preparing for the Olympiads. I want to say that if you work hard,
you will be able to reach any heights,» said school director Rassul Myradov.
