A resident of Aktobe assembled a solar powered car and used it to go on a long trip. Vladimir Silevich covered the distance of nearly 3,000 kilometers from the city of Oral to Almaty together with several owners of similar vehicles from Kazakhstan and Russia. According to him, the drivers traveled 150 km every day, and the trip took three weeks in total.
“I have a special application installed on my cell phone that controls a special battery-powered board within the car. Using this app one can see the exact capacity of the battery, as well as the power that is currently coming from the solar panels. I can already see the approximate mileage that I can cover with one charge,” said Silevich.
The inventor keeps updating his solar powered car. Recently, for example, he replaced the solar panels with more powerful ones. Now the car charges faster and runs longer.
“I ordered the electric motor from China. It is usually installed on a modern electric motorcycle or electric quad bike. I ordered the battery from the city of St. Petersburg. The front suspension of the solar car is made of a Zhiguli running gear. The two front wheels are from ordinary Volkswagen space-saving tires,” he added.
Silevich plans to take part in the similar motor rally next year. He is also going to assemble another solar car.
