Kazakhstan and Singapore are set
to cooperate in the field of education. A corresponding memorandum in higher
education was signed by the relevant ministries of the two countries. This initiative
will be further bolstered by the adoption of additional documents, particularly
a memorandum of understanding with Nanyang Technological University. The
document focuses on cooperation in water resource management, a crucial topic
for Kazakhstan. Addressing the Kazakhstan-Singapore Forum of Rectors, President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted Kazakhstan’s commitment within the Bolashak
scholarship program to send its researchers and scientists to Singapore. He
noted that since the commencement of the program, over 12,000 domestic students
have had the opportunity to study at top universities worldwide, with 72 of
them in Singapore.
“It is my hope that more students
from Kazakhstan will have the opportunity to get expertise and knowledge in your
beautiful country. Every year, we allocate 500 national research scholarships,
looking forward to enhancing the number of Kazakh scientists visiting
Singapore. Education and science are the cornerstones of progress and
innovation. By investing in these spheres, we are investing in the future of
our nations,” said Tokayev.
