The sowing campaign in Akmola Region, as in the rest of
Kazakhstan, was completed ahead of schedule. This year, the total sown area
reached 5.5 million hectares, 63,000 hectares more than last year. A record
430,000 hectares were allocated to oilseed crops. The areas planted with fodder
crops, vegetables, and potatoes also increased. A total of 37,000 units of
machinery were involved in fieldwork. Farmers received over 76,000 tonnes of
diesel fuel at subsidized prices. The next stage involves vegetation treatment and
preparations for the harvest campaign.
«Oilseed crops covered approximately 9,200 hectares, with a
total sown area of 14,200 hectares. The sowing campaign has been completed, and
the vegetation period is now beginning. If conditions are favorable, the
harvest should be good. We’re hoping for rainy weather,» said Askar Kortayev,
head of an agricultural enterprise.
