Since the beginning of 2024, the volume of cargo
transshipment through the Kuryk port has exceeded 1.5 million tonnes and is
expected to reach 2.2 million tonnes by year-end. Overall, the port's projected
capacity is six million tonnes of cargo annually. Currently, work is underway
to create a logistics cluster and renew the ferry fleet. Additionally, a grain
terminal is expected to be launched this year.
«Its capacity is one million tonnes per year, with one-time
storage of up to 25,000 tonnes. By the end of September, at the start of the
fourth quarter, a test ship call is planned to receive grain crops,» said
Aitkali Nurmagambetov, the head of the marketing sector of the Kuryk Port.
A new container hub will also be built based on
the Aktau port, with one of the largest Chinese port companies attracted as an
investor. Over the past eight months, the volume of cargo transshipment through
the port has surpassed three million tonnes, with containers primarily shipped
to Iran, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Russia. As of today, the facility's
throughput capacity exceeds 11 million tonnes. It has three oil loading berths,
three dry cargo berths, a grain terminal and a ferry complex. The port plays a
key role in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
