Survey results: 66% of Kazakh citizens end year with optimism

Kazakh citizens are ending the year with optimism. The Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KazISS) has revealed the results of a new sociological survey. More than 66 percent of the 8,000 respondents across the country are ending 2024 with a positive feeling. An important factor is that trust in President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his work remains consistently high. Kazakh citizens support the country’s strategic development course and the ongoing reforms. The study also showed that the majority of citizens perceive their country as a unified nation based on shared identity. Specifically, 46 percent of respondents identified Kazakhstan’s passport as the primary unifying factor, while nearly 40 percent emphasized common history and ancestry. In terms of core values, family is the top priority for respondents, followed by work and friends. A significant priority for the youth is free time. Experts note that these values will serve as the foundation for further development and strengthening of society.

«I would like to note that young people make up the majority of the optimistic respondents. The results of sociological surveys show a positive assessment of the outgoing year. Overall, their optimism is linked to the country’s well-being, job availability, and key health indicators. These factors were used to assess their positive outlook. The survey results indicate that most Kazakh citizens are ending the year in a good mood, which applies to both themselves and their families. Citizens are also optimistic about the coming year,» noted Saltanat Yermakhanova, Head of the Public Opinion Monitoring Department at the KazISS.
