Small Kurultai of Kazakhs from Asian countries held in Tokyo

The Small Kurultai of Kazakhs from Asian countries was held in Tokyo. The event brought together around 200 participants, including representatives of diaspora communities from Malaysia, South Korea, Mongolia, and other countries. A large delegation from Kazakhstan also attended the forum. During the Kurultai, a Memorandum on the establishment of the Council of Kazakhs in Asian Countries was signed. The Council is expected to promote closer cooperation among diaspora communities in the region and facilitate the implementation of joint projects. Participants discussed the preservation of cultural heritage, the development of humanitarian ties, and the promotion of Kazakh national arts on the international stage. The program also included a concert, an exhibition of traditional crafts, and a cultural fair. The event was organized by the Kazakh community in Japan with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan and the Otandastar Foundation. The next Kurultai of Kazakhs from Asian countries will be held in Mongolia in 2027.

«Countries are brought closer not only through politics, but also through art, culture, and education. In the near future, a special Council will be established to support the consolidation of diasporas across Asian countries, and this work will continue. Most importantly, this initiative will provide strong support for young people in preserving their language, national culture, and traditions,» said Bibigul Zheksenbay, Member of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament.

«My book, published in Japan, contains a wealth of information about the Kazakh Khanate. I presented it to guests attending the Kurultai. This was done to introduce our compatriots to the culture, history, and traditions of the Kazakh people,» said Duissenali Abdilashimuly, Professor at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
