Seven renewable energy
facilities, including four hydro and three solar power plants, with a capacity
of 48 megawatts (MW), will be constructed in the Turkistan region by 2025.
These projects will be implemented with the support of foreign investors. Once the
plants reach full capacity, it will be possible not only to produce the
necessary energy but also to export it. Currently, the region holds a leading
position in the country in terms of renewable energy generation.
“To date, the region has 21 operational
renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 278 MW. This includes
eight solar power plants with a capacity of 16 MW and 13 condensing power
stations with a capacity of 262 MW. They fully meet the region’s daily energy
requirements,” said Roza Sariyeva, Deputy Head of the Department of Energy and
Housing and Communal Services of the Turkistan region.
Currently, renewable sources
account for nearly six percent of the total electricity production in
Kazakhstan. According to the Ministry of Energy, the country aims to increase
the share of clean energy in its energy mix to 15 percent by 2030. To this end,
the ministry plans to hold annual auctions and attract investors for the
implementation of large-scale projects.
