Security Council meeting discusses strengthening Kazakhstan’s food independence

The enhancement of Kazakhstan’s food independence was discussed at a Security Council meeting chaired by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Head of State gave instructions to ensure the population’s access to affordable and quality food products, emphasizing the importance of modernizing agriculture and domestic agrarian science. Additionally, the topical issue is the intensification of measures to prevent land degradation. There is also a need for new approaches to systematically organize the process of updating the agricultural machinery fleet and creating the domestic seed fund adapted to local conditions. Furthermore, President Tokayev drew attention to the necessity of prompt state support for farmers and food producers.
