Resolution to prevent monkeypox spread comes into force in Kazakhstan

A resolution of the Chief Sanitary Doctor on preventing the spread of monkeypox has come into effect in Kazakhstan. Thus, sanitary and epidemiological control has been strengthened at borders, airports, and road checkpoints, with mandatory non-contact thermometry and monitoring of visitors from endemic countries. All premises of airports, railway and bus stations are subject to disinfection. Also, laboratories have been prepared to conduct PCR tests. Local authorities have been instructed to ensure the readiness of infectious disease hospitals to handle potential cases as well as maintain a sufficient stock of medications and personal protective equipment for medical staff. Notably, the global number of monkeypox cases has reached nearly 23,000 since the start of the year, with over 600 deaths reported.
