The epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan is moving according to an optimistic scenario, said Kazakh Health Minister Alexey Tsoy at the Government’s meeting. Emphasizing the effectiveness of vaccination, the minister announced data on the incidence and mortality from coronavirus after immunization for the first time. He noted that the proportion of infected patients after vaccination is only 0.1 percent. The bulk of the coronavirus infection in the country, which is 99.9 percent, accounts for the unvaccinated.
“The proportion of mortality from COVID-19 among the unvaccinated is 97.7 percent, while the vaccinated account for 2.3 percent. At the same time, the vaccinated had severe chronic diseases. This fact once again proves the effectiveness of vaccination in preventing severe consequences from COVID-19. Kazakhstan registered an increase in the incidence in July due to the detection of the delta strain, but since the beginning of August, there has been a slowdown in coronavirus cases and the stabilization of the epidemiological situation with COVID-19 in Nur-Sultan,” the minister said.
According to Alexey Tsoy, 98 percent of fatalities from the insidious disease account for unvaccinated residents of the country, most of them have severe chronic diseases. Meanwhile, Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin once again outlined the importance of accelerating the immunization rate.
“It is necessary to accelerate the rate of vaccination. In particular, governors of West Kazakhstan, Mangystau and Atyrau regions should take this issue under control and ensure the implementation of the vaccination plan in August this year,” Mamin noted.
The PM highlighted that the epidemiological situation should be kept under control in all regions. He also noted that the authorities of the capital, Almaty and Shymkent cities and Karagandy region should pay special attention.
