Prospects for AI integration into economy discussed at Digital Almaty 2025 forum

The introduction of digital technologies is expected to drive annual GDP growth of 2-3%. The country’s economic development will depend on the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI). This was announced by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov at the Digital Almaty 2025 forum, one of the largest international innovation forums in the CIS region. The event was attended by the heads of government from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Uzbekistan, the First Vice President of Iran, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, and the Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Collegium, along with representatives from international organizations and financial institutions. Participants discussed the prospects for innovative development and the integration of AI into the economy, industrial ecosystems, healthcare, and education.

«President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has initiated the creation of a competency ecosystem based on the Alem.ai International Artificial Intelligence Center, which is set to open in Astana this year. This will bring together leading IT companies, research laboratories, startups, and educational programs on a single platform to collaboratively develop solutions. We propose that the EAEU countries join forces to implement AI-related projects at the Alem.ai center,» Bektenov said.

According to him, human capital plays a crucial role in the development of AI technologies. Kazakhstan has set a goal to train around one million IT specialists within five years. On the sidelines of the forum, an exhibition was held showcasing AI startups, along with a range of domestic and international projects. One such project is an intelligent surveillance system.

«The main advantage is that it is a modern solution in the field of video surveillance systems, featuring built-in video analytics modules such as facial recognition, vehicle recognition, and situational analysis. This is directly relevant to the development of artificial intelligence, as all our video analytics modules are based on AI technologies for neural network training. The primary function of our software is focused on public safety, enabling the detection of offenders, tracking criminals, and locating missing persons,» said Vyacheslav Pak, Director General of Cerebro Innovation Technologies.
