President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed Albanian President Bajram Begaj on his first official visit to Kazakhstan. The two leaders discussed the issues of cooperation between the countries in the Akorda Residence today. During the talks held in a narrow format, the Head of State expressed his gratitude to the President of Albania for accepting the invitation to visit Astana.
“Mr. President, first of all, I would like to express my appreciation to you for having accepted my invitation to come to Kazakhstan to pay an official visit, first-ever to Kazakhstan made by President of Albania. This visit is extremely important in terms of facilitating our mutual cooperation. Kazakhstan is very much interested in having closer relationship with your great country. And we believe that we have a lot of opportunities to explore in order to push forward our mutually beneficial cooperation and ties in so many areas of mutual interest. And it’s very much symbolic that your visit is taking place just two weeks before when we 30 years ago established diplomatic relationship between both countries,” said Tokayev.
“I’m very glad to be in Kazakhstan. Thank you for your invitation. As you mentioned, this visit has coincided with the 30 years anniversary of our diplomatic relationship. That shows that our political relationships are good and we have to work more finding opportunities in our economical development and cooperation. Invitation goes back for you to come to Albania,” said Begaj.
Begaj commended the progress of bilateral cooperation between the countries, exploring the prospects for enhancing interaction in the mining industry, energy, agriculture, transport, and tourism. During the talks, President Tokayev spoke about the need to launch direct flights between Astana and Tirana to reach a new stage of collaboration and strengthen business contacts. He emphasized that Kazakhstan regards Albania as a vital partner on the Balkan Peninsula.
