Kazakhstan, Russia strengthen strategic cooperation

The foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia discussed preparations for the upcoming state visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Moscow. The Head of State is scheduled to visit Russia on November 12. During the meeting, Yermek Kosherbayev and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov highlighted the active cooperation between the two countries in political, trade and economic, cultural, humanitarian, and other key areas. Kosherbayev emphasized the symbolic nature of the meeting, which coincided with the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. He noted that this underscores the trust-based nature of the bilateral dialogue. This marks Kosherbayev’s first official visit to Russia since his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

«Trust-based contacts between the leaders of our countries — President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin — play a crucial role in the development of bilateral relations. Regular high-level dialogue sets the pace for the entire spectrum of cooperation between our two states,» Kosherbayev said.

«Today, we placed special emphasis on preparations for the state visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Russia. The leaders’ diplomacy sets the tone for Russia–Kazakhstan cooperation dynamics. Russia is among Kazakhstan’s leading trading partners and the largest investor in its economy. Much attention is paid to promoting energy security through joint projects in thermal and hydropower,» Lavrov said.
