The Central Election Commission summarized the final results of the election for the members of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament. Three political parties will be presented in the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament. Today, the seats are distributed as follows: Nur Otan party - 76, Ak Zhol Democratic Party - 12 and the People’s Party of Kazakhstan - 10. The Mazhilis will also include nine members from the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. Parliamentary elections were held in Kazakhstan on January 10. Nearly 12 million people casted their votes.
“Ballots were cast by 7,539,280 people, the voter turnout made 63.25 percent. 7,241,562 votes were cast for political parties. Votes were distributed as follows: the People’s Party of Kazakhstan secured 659,019 votes or 9.10 percent, Nur Otan party - 5,148,074 votes or 71.09 percent, the Auyl People’s Democratic Patriotic Party - 383,023 votes or 5.29 percent, the Ak Zhol Democratic Party - 792,828 votes or 10.95 percent, the Adal political party - 258,618 votes or 3.57 percent. Thus, three political parties achieved the minimum 7-percent threshold, including the People’s Party of Kazakhstan, Nur Otan party and the Ak Zhol Democratic Party,” said Konstantin Petrov, Deputy Chairperson of the Kazakh Central Election Commission.
