President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the people of
Kazakhstan on Capital City Day. He highlighted the special significance of this
holiday, noting that this year it symbolically coincides with National Dombyra
Day. The President described the dombyra as an ancient symbol of the unique,
millennia-old cultural heritage of the Great Steppe, and Astana as a striking
embodiment of the country's modern progress and aspirations for the future. He
also emphasized that the capital has become a hallmark of modern Kazakhstan and
has earned recognition as a respected international platform for global
dialogue and peacekeeping initiatives.
«Today, our capital stands as the center of social,
political, and economic life in the country - a place where pivotal decisions
are made and bold dreams and incredible ideas come to life. Here, the values of
knowledge and hard work are upheld, and national unity and harmony are
strengthened. The capital has always been at the heart of profound changes and
large-scale reforms. I am confident that, on the path to building a Just,
Clean, and Strong Kazakhstan, it will maintain its leading role, consistently remaining
at the forefront of comprehensive transformation. May our beloved city continue
to prosper and grow even more beautiful. I wish all my fellow citizens good
health, happiness, and well-being!» Tokayev said.
The Head of State also extended his congratulations on
National Dombyra Day. Writing on his page on the social platform X, President
Tokayev described the dombyra as the soul and pride of the Kazakh people. “A
true Kazakh is not the Kazakh himself - a true Kazakh is the dombyra,” he
wrote. The instrument is becoming increasingly popular, especially among the
younger generation.
«Young people are deeply engaging with our ancestral culture
and honoring national traditions. This is undoubtedly heartening, as such
careful preservation of the creative legacy of our great ancestors has already
become an integral part of patriotism. True love for the Motherland is the
foundation of our statehood. It is great that the youth of Kazakhstan both
understands and supports this. The state will continue to provide comprehensive
support for the cultural sphere. Masters of traditional art have been awarded
high honors: Kairat Baibossynov has received the title of “Hero of Labour of
Kazakhstan,” while Aigul Ulkenbayeva and Aigul Kossanova have been named
“People’s Artists of Kazakhstan.” I express my gratitude to everyone who
promotes our sacred dombyra around the world,» Tokayev added.
