A record rice harvest is expected in Kazakhstan this year. Experts attribute this to the abundance of moisture as well as high-yielding varieties planted by farmers. So far, 32 percent of rice has been harvested, and work is in full swing in the Kyzylorda region. The machinery is working round the clock. According to specialists, an average of several dozen centners of rice is being harvested per hectare in the region. In general, farmers have sown over 85,000 hectares of land with this crop. Most of the fields were treated with mineral fertilizers, which also contributed to the increased yield and volume of rice.
«Last year, we harvested 72 centners of rice, which is considered a high yield. We are currently harvesting the crop and expect even better results. Our average yield is 87 centners, with the Kauris variety from Russia producing 92-93 centners,» said agronomist Yerbol Akbergenov.
«Compared to last year,
productivity has increased. Out of 85,600 hectares, 28,000 hectares have been
harvested so far, which makes
up 32 percent. Of these, 20,000 hectares have been
threshed,» noted Talgat Duissebayev, head of the Department of
Agriculture and Land Relations of the Kyzylorda region.
