During the meeting of the CIS
Heads of Government Council in Ashgabat, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov
discussed cooperation with his counterparts in areas such as transport, energy,
chemical industry, ecology, healthcare, and more. Special attention was given
to the development of transport corridors. Currently, Kazakhstan has
established a network of transcontinental transit routes with a total
investment of over $35 billion. More than 80 percent of land transportation
between Europe and Asia passes through the country’s territory. According to
Bektenov, creating effective logistics chains requires strengthening
cooperation in harmonizing tariff policies and digitizing customs procedures.
Following the meeting, 11 documents were signed to further promote cooperation.
“We are focused on ensuring
economic self-sufficiency, creating a robust industrial framework for the
country, updating critical infrastructure, revitalizing the agro-industrial
complex, and effectively utilizing Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics
potential. We believe that to fully achieve these goals, it is also important
to strengthen cooperation with our key partners,” said Bektenov.
On the meeting’s sidelines, the
Kazakh Prime Minister was received by President of Turkmenistan Serdar
Berdimuhamedov. The parties discussed partnerships in the gas sector, as well
as joint agricultural projects. Bektenov also held a meeting with his Kyrgyz
counterpart. The two countries aim to expand their bilateral trade turnover and
bring it to $3 billion.
