OTS Summit in Turkistan to focus on AI and digitalization

Tomorrow, May 15, the Informal Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will take place in Turkistan. The meeting will focus on artificial intelligence and digital development. The parties are expected to discuss the impact of technology on the economy, strengthening regional integration, and joint initiatives in the field of AI. The summit could become an important platform for enhancing strategic dialogue among the Turkic states. Member of the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, Aidos Sarym emphasized that cooperation within the Organization goes beyond cultural and historical interaction. The states are already developing model laws to harmonize the legislation of member countries and are coordinating joint efforts at the interparliamentary level.

«The upcoming summit of heads of state will focus on artificial intelligence, an area where Kazakhstan has already built a strong foundation. We have a Digital Code, which has been presented to our colleagues in Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as at TURKPA. We also have a separate law on artificial intelligence, which we were among the first to introduce. Moreover, we have even enshrined these issues in the Constitution. I believe we will have a lot to share,» said Aidos Sarym, member of the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament.

Experts express the view that the OTS is transforming from a historical and cultural association into an important geo-economic platform. This shift is directly influencing technological development and educational processes in the region.

«As part of the educational programs, student exchange is taking place. There is also a training course for teachers called Partnership. It is important to note that cooperation within these programs goes beyond a single semester, with both countries fully utilizing their resources, particularly in the development of artificial intelligence,» MNU Professor Bakyt Tolegenov said.
