Number of Malaysian tourists to Kazakhstan increases sixfold in six months

Kazakhstan is attracting an increasing number of foreign travelers. Last year, more than one million tourists visited the country, and this year, over 1.2 million visitors are expected. According to the Kazakh Tourism National Company, the majority of tourists have come from China, Russia, India and Türkiye. The number of visitors from Southeast Asia is also on the rise. Since March 2024, around 35,000 Malaysians have already visited Kazakhstan. Experts attribute the sixfold increase in tourist flow to the launch of regular flights from Kuala Lumpur to Almaty.

«A significant sixfold growth has been observed in the Malaysian market, facilitated by a number of events. Since the inaugural flight, we have conducted promotional activities to showcase Almaty and Kazakhstan as a whole. Currently, we are running a large advertising campaign in this market, and as a result, our partners report that demand for travel to Almaty has increased by 30 percent over this period. This is not the limit, as the airline plans to further expand its flight program beyond Malaysia. We will also be actively working in the markets of Indonesia, Singapore, and other countries,» noted Daniyel Serzhanuly, Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh Tourism National Company.
