Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan sign documents for $65 million

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan intend to create an industrial trade and logistics complex in the border areas in the near future. It will stimulate the emergence of new joint projects, that will help bring the trade turnover between the countries to $2 billion. It is worth reminding that the strategic task was set by the heads of the two states. To date, the mutual trade turnover between the countries is steadily growing. In 2022, it increased by nearly 19 percent and reached $1.3 billion. Positive dynamics are observed this year as well. Over seven months, trade grew by 13 percent and amounted to $757 million. This was discussed at the eleventh meeting of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Council. Along with trade and economic relations, cooperation between states is developing in the transit, transport, communication and tourism areas. There are good prospects for industrial cooperation, agriculture, digitalization as well as in the water sector, taking into account the interests of both countries.

“On our part, we are interested in further implementation of joint projects and their increase. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan generally have broad prospects for joint work in all areas. This is confirmed by a substantial list of commercial agreements worth about $65 million signed in various industries today. I am confident that the current forum will allow us to develop new initiatives aimed at strengthening mutually beneficial interregional and cross-border cooperation,” said Alikhan Smailov, Kazakh Prime Minister.
