“Nomad Games” take place in Turkistan region

“Nomad Games” took place in Turkistan region. The best of the best competed in traditional sports, including one of the most spectacular among the Kazakh national games – horse wrestling called “auda-ryspak”. According to the rules, the winner is the rider who is able to overcome his rival and push him off the horse. Another game of squatting with a ram on the neck gathered a lot of spectators.

Wrestlers of the region also fought in uncompromising battles to reveal the strongest in Kazakh wrestling.

 “This is our national sport. Kazakh Kures is our Kazakh brand. This sport has a thousand-year history. I can even say that Kazakh wrestling helped in many battles. I do sambo, judo. But I really like Kazakh wrestling,” said competitor Islambek Ilyaskazhy.

During the competitions, visitors were able to try dishes of the Kazakh national cuisine as well. The menu was developed by the local council of grandmothers. They spoke in detail about the history and cooking technology of the presented treats.

 “All this demonstrates the unity of the people, understanding and cooperation. Our district is thriving on talents and hard work,” noted district resident Akzharkyn Bakorazova.

The organizers of the ‘Nomad Games” admitted that with the help of such events, they strive to preserve an important part of the culture and history of Kazakh people. And, of course, attract tourists to the region.
