An International
Center for the Creative Industry is set to be established in Kazakhstan in
2024. As part of this initiative, special hubs are planned to open in Astana,
Almaty, and Shymkent. This was announced by Kazakh Minister of Culture and
Information Aida Balayeva. According to her, the center aims to foster the
development of infrastructure, discover and support talent, and facilitate the
export and commercialization of products from domestic masters. A specialized
department has been created within the ministry to lead growth in this area,
and notably, a draft law addressing the support and development of creative
industries has been developed. The document is slated for submission to the
Mazhilis, a Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, in January next year.
“It envisions
legislative changes in the field of intellectual property, the provision of
additional spaces in cultural facilities to foster a community of creative
industries, the expansion of educational training programs, and the offering of
tax incentives to creative industry representatives. This will provide a
powerful impetus to the development of this sector,” Balayeva said.
