Active discussions on the development of
Kazakhstan’s energy sector, including nuclear power, are underway in the
country’s regions and cities. Recently, representatives of businesses, public organizations,
and educational institutions gathered in Almaty. The meeting participants noted
that building a nuclear power plant will allow comprehensively solve the energy
deficit in Kazakhstan. Also, installing a powerful energy source with a multi-level
security system will provide the country with stable and affordable electricity
tariffs.
«Finally, a two-tariff system will be
introduced at nighttime, enabling base-load power plants, such as nuclear power
plants, to operate in a regular mode. This will allow us to implement energy
storage devices which could be charged at night,» said Yertugan Umbetkulov,
Energo University professor.
According to the
students, future power engineers, NPP is a reliable and eco-friendly solution
to provide the country with electricity. Notably, its
operation does not depend on the weather.
«As a future power
engineer, I can say that nuclear energy will always be a priority since all leading
countries are developing nuclear energy. Compared to green
energy, nuclear power is stable, and will provide more opportunities, including
job creation and opportunities for power engineers,» shared student Alisher
Sabituly.
Karagandy activists
believe that the upcoming referendum will become another example of a broad
nationwide dialogue and a vivid demonstration of the implementation of the
listening state concept. ¤
«The
concept of a listening state and the fact that such an important issue is being
addressed through a referendum indicates Kazakhstan's new course. I take
this opportunity to urge every Kazakh citizen who cares about his future and
the future of his children and the country to participate in the referendum, it
is crucial,» noted Dmitry Poltarenko, President of the Association of Civil
Alliance of the Karagandy Region.
