Kazakhstan will produce tea from mulberry leaves and launch
the cultivation and processing of mulberry silkworms in the Turkistan region.
Construction of an enterprise is already underway, with more than 1.5 billion
tenge invested in the project. It is expected to boost the local processing
industry and support the diversification of agriculture in the region.
«Mulberry seedlings were brought in with the involvement of
Chinese partners in 2024. They were planted on 50 acres of land in the Birtilek
rural district so that the plant could adapt to local conditions. As the
experiment showed, the seedlings took root successfully. In the future, there
are plans to expand planting to 60 hectares of farmland,» said Omirserik
Altynbayev, Acting Head of the Entrepreneurship and Agriculture Department of
the Keles District, Turkistan Region.
