Mazhilis Chair briefs Kazakh President on Lower House activities

Members of the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, initiated 20 bills after considering 82 draft laws since the first session of the eighth convocation. The adopted bills were related to the return of illegally acquired assets to the state, internet advertising and online platforms, the Semipalatinsk nuclear safety zone, circulation of liquefied gas, and electric scooters usage. Mazhilis Chairperson Yerlan Koshanov briefed President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the activities of the Lower House, noting that the Mazhilis members hold public hearings in the regions, discussing and reviewing suggestions for drafts of the Water, Budget, Tax, and Urban Development Codes. Members are expected to work on these documents at the next session. Koshanov also reported to the President on the results of the work regarding parliamentary diplomacy, informing about the meetings held with the heads of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of legislative bodies of other countries.
