The famous «Lilo & Stitch» will speak Kazakh in the
upcoming Walt Disney live-action remake of the beloved animated film about the
fun adventures of a little girl and an alien, which has been dubbed into the state
language. The film, set for release in May, will be followed by the third
installment of the American sci-fi film «Avatar,» in December – also dubbed in
Kazakh. This was announced by President of Qazaq Tili International Society
Rauan Kenzhekhanuly, who added that four Hollywood films will be released with
Kazakh dubbing by the end of the year. Notably, global film companies are
covering the costs of translating their films into Kazakh themselves.
«I would like to note that Hollywood films are not dubbed
into every language worldwide. They provide dubbing in 30 foreign languages,
and since last year, Kazakh has become one of these 30 selected languages. To
keep translation costs covered, the demand for Kazakh dubbing must be at least
20 percent. We are currently working to grow that audience,» Kenzhekhanuly said.
