Legislative support for reform course of Kazakh President - a priority for Senate

The legislative support for the course of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s reforms will remain a key priority for the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament, as stated by Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev during today’s session. Among the Head of State’s directives are the adoption of new Budget and Tax Codes, amendments to launch a unified platform for subsoil users, and the creation of infrastructure to expand the use of digital assets.

Senate approves procedure for distributing customs duties within EAEU

During the meeting, the Senate also approved the procedure for distributing customs duties within the EAEU. This pertains to the ratification by Kazakhstan of the protocol on amendments to the relevant Treaty. The law aims to remove obstacles in the administration of customs duty collection, which is charged upon the import or export of goods within the Eurasian Economic Union. Overall, the ratification of this document will ensure the uninterrupted flow of customs revenues into the national budget, the Senate noted.

«The heads of state instructed the governments to revise approaches, considering the changing macroeconomic conditions in their countries, to ensure that the methodology becomes more responsive and adaptive to these challenges, particularly in an upward direction. Currently, the Russian Federation is restricted in making transfers in U.S. dollars, which has created an opportunity for us to fulfill our obligations to each other in national currencies. The ratification enables the participating countries to meet their obligations regarding customs payments,» noted Berik Sholpankulov, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
