The Sixth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia will be held on October 12-13 in Astana. It is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the initiative to convene CICA. The event chaired by Kazakhstan will be attended by the heads of 11 states. The first leaders of observer organizations were invited as well. According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, about 50 delegations are expected to arrive in total. It is anticipated that the CICA Summit will become one of the top foreign policy events not only in Kazakhstan, but also across the continent in the post-pandemic period. A number of documents are planned to be adopted during the summit. Kazakhstan put forward the initiative to convene CICA in 1992, at the 47th session of the UN General Assembly. Since its inception, the CICA membership has included 27 states, covering 90 percent of the Asian continent.
