Largest copper exploration begins in Kazakhstan

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Robert Friedland, Executive Co-Chairman of the board of directors of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. The Head of State was briefed on the start of large-scale geological exploration in the Chu-Sarysu copper basin. The company has allocated $18.7 million for subsoil exploration at this site, with plans to increase investments to $115 million over the next four years. Robert Friedland also noted that the project will employ advanced airborne geophysical technologies and digital data analysis. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the extraction and processing of metals.
