Domestic tourism is actively developing in the Kyzylorda region. This year, it reported a 20-percent rise in the tourist influx, which is the highest rate over the post-COVID period. Particular emphasis was placed on new directions. Thus, the Aral district is very popular among tourists, as they have an opportunity to walk along the dry seabed to get new impressions. And those who want to improve their health can bathe in the healing waters of Lake Kambash. The famous Kok-Aral, the Barsakelmes nature reserve and ancient settlements are also beloved tourist attractions. In addition, an increasing number of travelers are expressing interest in the industrial facilities of the district.
“We have nine fish processing plants. International tourists express interest in our production capacity and work process. Apart from that, Lake Kambash entered the top 50 travel destinations of Kazakhstan and is very popular among tourists. Around 100,000 people visit this recreation area every year,” said Daniyar Karzhaubayev, spokesperson for the Entrepreneurship, Industry and Tourism Department of Kyzylorda Region’s Aral district.
Medical and ecotourism are also developing in the region. Since the beginning of the year it has been visited by more than 50,000 travelers. 20,000 of them came there to get treatment, and others took ‘environmental’ or ‘space’ tours. The latter is among the most popular ones.
“It takes 55 days for foreign tourists to apply for visiting the Baikonur Cosmodrome and verify all the documents. We are working with our Russian colleagues to reduce this period to 15-20 days,” Mukhtar Zhetilgenov, spokesperson for the Entrepreneurship and Industry Department of the Kyzylorda region, said.
Eco-projects are also being developed in the region. They include off-road safari tours and camel rides.
