The Al-Farabi
Kazakh National University is currently implementing 400 scientific projects
worth over eight billion tenge. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was
briefed on the university’s activities. Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Rector of the
university, also presented a strategic plan for the development of one of the
country’s oldest universities to the Head of State. Next year, the university
will mark its 90th anniversary. President Tokayev was also informed about the
commencement of operations of a branch of the Chinese Northwestern
Polytechnical University at KazNU. The corresponding agreement was signed
during his official visit to China in May of this year. Tuimebayev also spoke
about the second phase of the construction of the KazNU campus, which includes
plans for eight academic buildings, a technopark and 12 dormitories, starting
from next year.
