A photo exhibition highlighting Kazakhstan’s contribution to
Victory has opened at the capital’s Nurly Zhol railway station. Organized by
the Kazinform international news agency with the support of the Kazakh
President’s TV and Radio Complex and the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy national
railway operator, the exhibition commemorates the 80th anniversary of Victory
with eighty unique archival photographs taken by wartime photojournalists.
Risking their lives, these photographers captured history, from the first days
of the war to the raising of the Victory Banner over the Reichstag. Each image
tells a story of heroism of soldiers on the front lines, workers on the home
front, as well as doctors and scientists. Their feats became symbols of the
unbreakable will and fighting spirit of the people. The exhibition will run
until the end of July. A video version will be shown on LED screens at railway
stations and airports across the country.
«We worked in many archives, including private collections,
state museums, and libraries, as well as archives of Kazakhstan and Russia. In
total, we have collected thousands of photographs, of which we selected 80 for
this exhibition - 80 photographs for the 80th anniversary of Victory,» noted Nagashybek
Aldan, Deputy Managing Director of the Kazinform International News Agency.
«This photo exhibition consists of four sections: the first covers
World War II, a separate section is dedicated to the Panfilov Heroes, another
highlights the heroism of women on the home front, and the last one focuses on
the railway,» said Vladimir Kuryatov, Deputy Managing Director of the Kazinform
International News Agency.
