The official visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
to Turkmenistan began with a meeting with Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty
(People’s Council) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The National Leader of the
Turkmen people personally welcomed the Kazakh President at Ashgabat airport.
The Head of State emphasized that Kazakh-Turkmen relations are developing
dynamically in the spirit of friendship, good-neighborliness, and mutual
support. He noted that the official visit to Turkmenistan is intended to bring
the interstate relations to a qualitatively new level. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov unveiled a monument to Abai in Ashgabat.
«In his invaluable works, he celebrated eternal values,
emphasized the importance of patriotism, diligence, and love for knowledge, as
well as called for humanism, kindness, and prudence. The unveiling of the
monument to Abai in Ashgabat is an exceptionally important initiative aimed at
further strengthening the fraternal relations between our countries,» Tokayev
said.
This year, a monument to the great Magtymguly Pyragy was
erected in Astana. President Tokayev emphasized that the work of the Turkmen
philosopher is shared by all Turkic peoples. He also expressed gratitude for
being awarded the jubilee medal for the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy.
«The works of Abai and Magtymguly are a valuable heritage of
the entire Turkic world. Our common duty is to preserve and pass it on to
future generations. There are many examples of continuity in the poetry of
these two great poets. Our peoples are connected by common roots, shared
history, and similar languages and cultures. On this unshakable basis, we have
built strong and harmonious relations that are now steadily developing in the
spirit of strategic partnership,» Tokayev added.
The Head of State also laid a wreath at the
Independence Monument of Turkmenistan. Following this, President Tokayev was
solemnly welcomed at the Oguzhan Presidential Palace, where he and Turkmen
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks in a narrow format. The Head of
State emphasized the great importance he attaches to regular high-level
meetings, as they serve as a basis for expanding cooperation. He called
Turkmenistan a strategic partner of Kazakhstan, highlighting the country’s
significant contribution to regional and international security and its neutral
status in the international arena. Serdar Berdimuhamedov also reaffirmed
Turkmenistan’s commitment to developing partnership, trade, and economic ties
with Kazakhstan, particularly in priority sectors such as energy, transport,
trade, agriculture, and new technologies.
