Kazakhstan will start a nationwide population census on September 1. It will last until October 30. According to the Bureau of National Statistics, the data will be collected both online and in traditional format, wherein Kazakh citizens will be asked 87 questions, including 20 clarifying ones. A single call center 1446 will work during the census.
“A special website sanaq.gov.kz will be launched on September 1. Here, Kazakh residents will be able to answer census questions online until October 15. The data will be taken in offline format from those respondents who did not complete the survey online within the specified period. An innovation in this stage will be the use of electronic tablets by census-takers. This will minimize the influence of the human factor on the quality of data, increase the level of reliability of information using personal identification numbers, as well as increase the mobility of census-takers when collecting data,” said Assem Aldangarkyzy, Press Secretary of the Bureau of National Statistics.
Initially the census was supposed to be held in 2020, but it had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
