Kazakhstan plans to purchase 300,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine and 500,000 doses of QazVac vaccine until the end of the year. At present, there are more than a million doses of Chinese, 85,000 doses of domestic and 29,000 U.S. vaccines in the country’s vaccine administration points, Kazakh Health Minister Azhar Giniyat announced. Vaccination, as well as revaccination, is still the only way to protect ourselves against coronavirus, she said. 80 percent of Kazakh residents who caught the infection are either unvaccinated citizens or those who received their vaccine over six months ago. Giniyat informed that, as of now, 56 percent of the country's population has been vaccinated against the virus. Despite this, the number of daily COVID cases in the country may reach 4,000 by the end of this month. However, in September the number of infections is expected to go down. In general, patients experience a mild form of the disease.
“Now, considering that the country is mainly in the ‘Green’ zone, and the population is well aware of the consequences of the pandemic that has been going on for more than two years, we advise our citizens to wear masks in crowded places for the sake of their health, especially if there are rising infection rates in their regions. The Health Ministry recommends residents to observe all the preventive measures that can protect the population from getting infected,” said Azhar Giniyat, Kazakh Health Minister.
