Kazakhstan to launch free flights for children

Kazakh children aged from two to 14 years will be provided with free air tickets for visiting the most popular tourist destinations in Kazakhstan under the program ‘Kids go free’. The developers noted that this program is designed to motivate Kazakh residents to travel within the country. After all, free air tickets for children will save about 30 percent of the average Kazakh family’s vacation budget. Thus, experts expect that the ‘Kids go free’ program will give a very good impetus for the development of domestic tourism.

“This program will contribute to the development of tourism in Alakol, Balkhash, Burabai, Baikonur and Turkistan. In my opinion, our citizens will be interested in the opportunity to fly with their families on vacation, when air tickets for children are free. There are a lot of large families in Kazakhstan, so even if two adults and two children are flying, the price of tickets is not cheap. If the program is launched, many Kazakh citizens will be interested in our tourism product,” said Dmitry Kruchinin, manager of travel company.

Subsidy is planned to be introduced under the scheme ‘1+2’, meaning two children per one parent, on condition that a supporting document is provided. The ‘Kids go free’ program is available for families with one child, as well as for large families. This practice is widely used in many developed countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, Qatar, Scandinavian nations and Tahiti.

“It may be somewhat different, but, in general, they will be similar. That is, after the program is released, we will be able to see the differences between how international tour operators launch it and how domestic ones do it,” said Dmitry Kruchinin, manager of travel company.

The program is currently under consideration in the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament and will be approved following the adoption of the Tourism Bill, press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports stated.
