Kazakhstan, China sign agreements worth $629 million

Companies from Kazakhstan and China signed 17 agreements worth $629 million at the interregional forum in Urumqi. Among these are contracts on the construction and modernization of 10 substations and power lines, the construction of a plant to produce electrical equipment, and the supply of camel milk powder and sunflower oil. It is worth noting that the large dialogue platform gathered representatives of 17 regions, major companies, and business circles from Kazakhstan and regions of China. The participants discussed trade and economic, transport, investment, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation. During his speech at the forum, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin noted that China ranks fourth in terms of investment in Kazakhstan.

«Kazakhstan and China have established all conditions for intensive interregional cooperation. Currently, there are 43 passenger flights between cities of the two countries, with future plans to expand flight routes to additional cities in China. We are actively collaborating with China in developing new transit routes and enhancing transport and logistics infrastructure,» Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin said.

«China is a very active investor in Kazakhstan, ranking among the top five. Currently, around 2,700 companies with Chinese capital and 600 joint ventures are operating in Kazakhstan. Major Chinese enterprises are also actively engaged in the Kazakh market. We would like to see even more companies added to this list, alongside small and medium-sized businesses,» Kazakh Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev said.

Additionally, the China-Eurasia EXPO has kicked off in Urumqi, featuring 1,900 companies from 50 countries, 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities of China. At the international professional brand exhibition, the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan is the largest among foreign exhibitors. Spanning an area of 260 square meters, 42 domestic companies showcased export goods, primarily food products.
