Kazakh Prime
Minister Alikhan Smailov signed a decree for increasing the bursary amount for
Kazakh students, which will come into effect from September 1. Thus, from the
new academic year, the monthly stipend will amount to 97,000 tenge for
undergraduates and 217,500 tenge for PhD students. Also, medical interns and
resident doctors will receive over 75,000 tenge and more than 111,000 tenge,
respectively. The scholarship for students of pedagogical specialties will be
67,000 tenge. Students pursuing other specialties will have a scholarship of
approximately 42,000 tenge. And those students enrolled in vocational
educational institutions will receive 32,000 tenge per month.
“The amount of
monthly state bursary will be increased by 20 percent for undergraduate
students, by 15 percent for students enrolled in Master’s and PhD programs, and
by 50 percent for students of technical and vocational education institutions.
Starting next month, the salary of teachers of preschool education and training
will be increased by 30 percent,” said Dinara Alimova, spokesperson for the
Kazakh Prime Minister.
