A unified information system for
water resources will be developed in Kazakhstan. Experts from the relevant
ministry are working on its creation in collaboration with the Kazakhstan
Gharysh Sapary National Company. It will contain data on the condition of the
country’s water management facilities, including dams, embankments, locks,
irrigation systems, canals, stormwater drainage, and others. Additionally, the
unified database will enable tracking the distribution and utilization of water
all the way to the end consumer.
“Presently, ongoing efforts are focused on
digitizing irrigation networks in several regions of Kazakhstan. The
long-term plan involves integrating elements of digitization into the
overarching information system,” said Alikhan Salimzhanov, an expert at the
Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry’s department.
